This page summarises some key principles that apply to all student projects that I supervise. It covers group projects, final year and MSc projects and PhD projects.
Please avoid sending me documents as email attachments.
Please create a folder on the Nottingham OneDrive that contains all work you share with me. This should follow the naming convention: year of start_Name_award, e.g. 2022_Miller_BSc or 2023_Smith_PhD. Please share this folder with my Nottingham account.
For each meeting create a new sub-folder in your main folder with the planned meeting date in US format, e.g. 2023-08-25 for a meeting on the 25th of August 2023. This folder should contain all documents you wish to discuss during the meeting.
Each meeting should be based on a document or on documents you wish to discuss. Please ensure that you share these documents in sufficient time to allow me to read them. For short documents this can be two business days. For longer ones, you need to factor in sufficient time.
Arrange a meeting with me when you have something to share. Do this as soon as possible, but only when you are certain that there is something to discuss.
You can suggest a date based on availability in my calendar: But please be aware that this calendar does not always cover all my appointments and my availability will also depend on whether I work from Nottingham or from home.
In order to agree a date, please send me a calendar invite. If the time works, I will accept. Please ensure that the link to the folder / files that you wish to discuss are embedded in the calendar invitation.
